Privacy Policy for Ansi

Effective Date: May 15, 2026

At Ansi AI ("we," "us," "our," or the "Company"), we are dedicated to safeguarding the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal data when you interact with our services, including our mobile application Ansi (the "App") and our website https://ansi.world/.

1. Data We Collect

When you interact with our services, we may collect the following types of information:

Personal Data You Provide:

  • Account Information: If you register, we collect your full name, email address, and login credentials.
  • Voice Inputs: When you speak to the AI Guide, we process your voice audio to convert it to text and generate a response.
  • Support Data: Contents of your communications with us when you report a bug or ask for help.
  • Subscription & Purchase Data: When you subscribe to Ansi through the Apple App Store or Google Play, we receive transaction identifiers, subscription tier, purchase and renewal history, and receipt-validation data through the platform's billing system and through our subscription-management vendor (Adapty.io). We do not receive your full payment card or bank details — those are handled exclusively by Apple or Google.

Data Collected Automatically:

  • Geolocation Data: We collect precise location data (GPS) while you use the App to determine which stories, historical facts, and navigational directions are relevant to your immediate surroundings.
  • Device Information: Such as your IP address, device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the AI Guide (e.g., questions asked, time spent listening to stories, specific tours taken).
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies to collect data for analytics and functionality.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide the Tour Service: To generate AI responses, play the correct audio stories based on your location, and navigate you through the city.
  • To Process Voice Commands: To convert your spoken words into text so the AI Guide can understand and reply to you.
  • To Improve the AI: We may analyze anonymized conversation logs to improve the accuracy, personality, and helpfulness of the AI Guide.
  • For Communication: To send you service updates (e.g., "New city added!") or security alerts.
  • For Security: To prevent abuse of the AI generation tools (e.g., preventing hate speech inputs).
  • To Comply with Legal Obligations: To meet regulatory and legal reporting requirements.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (For EEA/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, we process your personal data on the following legal grounds:

  • Contract Performance: To provide the tour guide services you requested (e.g., processing your location to tell you where you are).
  • Consent: Where you have given us clear consent (e.g., enabling microphone access or location services).
  • Legitimate Interests: For our legitimate business interests, such as improving our AI models and app security, provided your fundamental rights are not overridden.
  • Legal Obligation: To comply with a legal or regulatory requirement.

4. How We Share Your Information

We may share your personal data with:

AI Service Providers

When you use the AI Guide features, we send the following data to our third-party AI service providers:

ProviderData SentPurpose

Before any data is sent to these AI providers, you will be presented with a clear consent dialog within the app. No personal data is transmitted to third-party AI services without your explicit permission.

All AI service providers are bound by strict Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and provide the same or equivalent level of data protection as required under applicable privacy laws.

4A. AI Data Processing and Your Consent

What We Do With AI

Our app uses artificial intelligence to provide personalized tour guide experiences, including:

  • Generating contextual responses to your questions
  • Creating location-aware historical stories
  • Streaming your voice input to a real-time speech AI model and returning a spoken response (handled end-to-end by the OpenAI Realtime API)
  • Generating spoken narration of tour content

Your Consent

Before any personal data is sent to third-party AI services, the app will display a consent dialog that explains:

  • What specific data will be sent
  • Which AI providers will process your data
  • Why the data is needed

You must actively confirm your consent before AI features become available. You can withdraw this consent at any time by:

What Happens If You Don't Consent

If you choose not to consent to AI data processing, you can still use the app's basic features including browsing available tours and viewing the map. However, AI-powered features such as the interactive tour guide will not be available.

Data Protection by AI Providers

All third-party AI providers we work with are contractually obligated to:

  • Process data only for the purposes specified
  • Implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures
  • Not use your personal data for their own purposes (e.g., model training)
  • Delete or return data upon request
  • Comply with applicable data protection laws

5. International Data Transfers

Your personal information, including voice and location data, may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your country of residence (including the United States, where many AI models are hosted). These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country.

We ensure that all such transfers are conducted in compliance with applicable data protection laws. We rely on adequacy decisions or implement appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Data Security

We implement robust technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access. These measures include encryption of data in transit and at rest. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

7. Data Retention

We will retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy.

  • Account Data: Retained as long as your account is active.
  • Voice Data: We do not store raw voice recordings on our servers. Voice input is streamed to the OpenAI Realtime API in real time and is not retained by Ansi after a response is produced.
  • Tour History & Travel Memories: When you grant the App access to your location, the Travel Memories feature is enabled by default. As part of this feature we save the following data to your user profile:
    • Location samples recorded approximately once per minute while you are using the App
    • The routes you walked and stops you visited
    • Stories you heard during each trip
    • Trip recaps and timestamps
This data is linked to your account and is retained for the lifetime of your account. It is deleted only when you delete your account (see Section 8). You can disable location access at any time in your device settings, which will stop further tour history from being recorded.
  • Anonymized Data: We may retain anonymized or aggregated data indefinitely for research and improvement purposes.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: The right to request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Erasure / Account Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data directly within the Ansi app at any time, in Settings → Account → Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent and removes your profile, conversation history, tour history (including all saved location samples and Travel Memories), and subscription metadata from our systems within 30 days. You may also request erasure by contacting us at support@ansi.world.
  • Restriction: The right to request we stop processing your data.
  • Portability: The right to receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw Consent: You can revoke microphone or location permissions at any time via your device settings, though this will limit the App's functionality.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in the "Contact Us" section below.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our app and website use cookies to enhance user experience.

  • Essential: Necessary for the app to function.
  • Analytical: Help us understand how users navigate the tours.
  • Managing Preferences: You can manage cookie preferences through your browser or device settings.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
